How the ACFT Is Scored

The Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT) replaced the legacy APFT with a six-event test designed to measure the strength, power, and endurance that combat tasks actually demand. Each event is scored from 0 to 100 points for a maximum total of 600. You must score at least 60 points in every event to pass. This calculator estimates your event scores and total.

The Six Events

  • 3-Rep Max Deadlift (MDL): Lower-body and grip strength using a hex/trap bar.
  • Standing Power Throw (SPT): A 10-lb medicine ball thrown backward overhead — explosive power.
  • Hand-Release Push-Up (HRP): Push-ups with arms fully extended off the ground each rep, in 2 minutes.
  • Sprint-Drag-Carry (SDC): Five 50-m shuttles (sprint, sled drag, lateral, carry, sprint) for time.
  • Plank (PLK): A forearm plank held for time, the core-endurance event.
  • 2-Mile Run (2MR): Aerobic endurance for time.

How Scoring Works

The ACFT uses a single gender-neutral scoring scale (the General standard). Each raw performance maps to a point value: 60 points is the minimum passing performance and 100 points is the maximum. This calculator interpolates linearly between those two anchors, which closely tracks the official tables. A passing total of 360 is possible only if no single event drops below 60.

Scoring Anchors (60-point pass → 100-point max)

Event 60 points 100 points
Deadlift (MDL)140 lb340 lb
Power Throw (SPT)4.5 m12.5 m
Push-Up (HRP)10 reps60 reps
Sprint-Drag-Carry (SDC)3:001:30
Plank (PLK)2:003:40
2-Mile Run (2MR)21:0013:42

Worked Example

A soldier deadlifts 240 lb, throws 8 m, does 30 hand-release push-ups, runs the SDC in 2:15, holds a 2:30 plank, and runs 2 miles in 17:30. Each event lands above its 60-point anchor, producing a comfortable passing total in the high 300s to low 400s.

The 60-Per-Event Rule

Because every event must reach 60, a single weak event fails the whole test regardless of total. Many soldiers train their weakest event hardest — often the deadlift or power throw — to clear that floor.

Note: This calculator uses the gender-neutral General (60-point) standard and linear interpolation between published anchors. Official ACFT scoring tables (FM 7-22) assign a point value to every raw value and are updated periodically; some MOS or component standards differ. Use this as a training estimate, not an official record.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a passing ACFT score?

You must score at least 60 points in every one of the six events to pass. Because each event has its own floor, a single weak event fails the whole test regardless of your total out of 600.

What are the six ACFT events?

The 3-rep max deadlift, standing power throw, hand-release push-up, sprint-drag-carry, plank, and 2-mile run. Each measures a different mix of strength, power, and endurance.

How is the ACFT different from the APFT?

The APFT had three events (push-ups, sit-ups, 2-mile run) and measured mostly endurance. The ACFT added strength and power events like the deadlift and power throw to better reflect combat demands.
