Triathlon Calculator for Pace and Time
Calculate your total triathlon finish time or race pace based on discipline times and distances.

Triathlon Calculator Explained
This calculator helps athletes estimate their total race time based on the input distances for swimming, biking, and running, as well as their respective speeds or paces. It also considers transition times between the disciplines to provide a more accurate total time estimation.
Key Inputs:
- Distances: The distances for swimming, biking, and running based on the selected triathlon type (Sprint, Olympic, Half-Ironman, or Ironman).
- Speeds/Paces: Input the swimming pace (per 100m or 100yd), biking speed (km/h or mph), and running pace (per km or mile).
- Transition Times: The times required for transition between swimming to biking (T1) and biking to running (T2).
Calculation Steps:
-
Select the Distance Preset:
Choose from the preset triathlon distances (Sprint, Olympic, Half-Ironman, or Ironman) to automatically populate the standard distances for swimming, biking, and running.
-
Input Distances:
Adjust the distances for each discipline if necessary. Distances can be set in either metric (meters, kilometers) or imperial (yards, miles) units.
-
Input Speeds or Paces:
Enter your estimated speed or pace for each discipline:
Swim Pace (MM:SS per 100m or 100yd)
Bike Speed (km/h or mph)
Run Pace (MM:SS per km or mile)
-
Input Transition Times:
Enter the transition times (T1 and T2) in the format MM:SS to account for the time taken to switch between disciplines.
-
Calculate Total Time:
The calculator uses the provided speeds/paces and distances to compute the total time for each discipline and adds the transition times to determine the final race time.
Total Time = Swim Time + T1 Time + Bike Time + T2 Time + Run Time
Output:
The total estimated time for the triathlon is displayed along with the individual split times for swimming, biking, running, and transitions.
Note: This calculator assumes steady-state conditions with no external factors such as wind or terrain variations affecting the times.
