Jonas
I have been training in combat sports for many years. I built this calculator to help fighters and martial artists track their calorie burn during training.
Boxing Calorie Calculator
Boxing burns between 400-900 calories per hour, making it one of the highest calorie-burning activities. Sparring burns the most, while shadow boxing provides a solid workout with lower intensity.
How the Calculator Works
The calculator uses MET values based on boxing activity type:
Calories Burned = MET × Weight (kg) × Time (hours)
MET Values by Activity
| Boxing Activity | MET Value |
|---|---|
| Sparring | 12.0 |
| General Training | 9.0 |
| Bag Work | 7.5 |
| Fitness Boxing | 7.0 |
| Shadow Boxing | 6.0 |
Example Calculation
For a 70 kg person doing general boxing training for 60 minutes:
1. MET Value: 9.0 (general training)
2. Calculation: 9.0 × 70 × 1.0 = 630 calories
Note: A 3-minute round of sparring can burn 30-50 calories for most people, making boxing extremely efficient for calorie burning.
