What is Wrist-to-Floor? Golf Club Fitting Measurement

Wrist-to-floor measurement is the distance from your wrist crease to the ground while standing, used to determine proper golf club length for your body.

Wrist-to-floor measurement is the distance from your wrist crease to the ground while standing in golf posture, used to determine proper golf club length for your body proportions.

How to Measure Wrist-to-Floor

  1. Stand on a hard floor without shoes
  2. Let your arms hang naturally at your sides
  3. Measure from the major crease on your wrist (where your hand meets your arm) straight down to the floor
  4. Keep the measuring tape perpendicular to the floor

Club Length Adjustments

Wrist-to-FloorHeightClub Adjustment
Under 29"5'0" - 5'4"-1.5" to -1"
29" - 32"5'4" - 5'7"-0.5" to -0.25"
32" - 34"5'7" - 5'10"Standard
34" - 36"5'10" - 6'1"+0.25" to +0.5"
36" - 37"6'1" - 6'3"+0.5" to +1"
Over 37"6'3"++1" to +1.5"

Why Wrist-to-Floor Matters

Two golfers of the same height may need different club lengths due to different arm proportions. Wrist-to-floor measurement accounts for these differences, providing a more accurate starting point than height alone.

Common Mistakes

  • Measuring with shoes on
  • Bending arms or hunching shoulders
  • Using the wrong wrist crease (use the major crease, not palm lines)
  • Measuring against a wall (creates angle errors)
